Why I Teach in Prison

Why I Teach in Prison

Wednesday, March 06
5:00 PM - 6:30 PM
WSC Varsity Theatre

Why I Teach in Prison will feature a panel of speakers from the University of Utah’s Prison Education Project, one of which was formerly incarcerated and is now attending the University of Utah pursuing her bachelor's degree. They will teach about higher education in Prison in the United States context and highlight opportunities for students and faculty to volunteer on the project.

The panel consists of two UPEP educators, Daycy Gomez and Pamela Cappas-Toro, and a BYU professor in the history department, Christopher Hodson, and will be moderated by the director of the UPEP, Andy Eisen.

After the panel presents, event participants will have the opportunity to engage in a question-and-answer session with the speakers. At the conclusion of the event, sandwiches will be served.
