Competition Prompt: 
The purpose of this competition is to inspire the BYU community to think about the theme of the Leading by Faith Conference, "One by One" and interpret what it means to them personally.

Theme: "Leading by Faith: One by One"
Carefully consider the Christ-Centered Leader Model (found at sorensencenter.byu.edu) and how its approach can enable us to minister “one by one”. What thoughts and ideas does it inspire? What memories does it bring to mind?

Guidelines:

Eligibility: The competition is open to enrolled undergraduate and graduate students of Brigham Young University, as well as current faculty and staff from August 27-October 18, 2024. All faculty and staff may only submit an entry to the "Faculty and Staff" category. All other categories are open to student entries.

Artwork Categories: 2D Art (Painting, Acrylics, Watercolors, Collage Art, Drawing etc.), 3D Art (e.g., Sculptures), Photography, Digital Art and Motion, Faculty and Staff Submissions, Audience Choice

Judging Criteria: Entries will be judged on relevance to the theme, overall artistic expression, creativity, and technical skill.

Prizes: Monetary prizes: $1000, $850, and $700 for 1st-3rd places. Individual category prizes will be awarded $500.

Submission Details: Please bring your physical art to the Sorensen Center at the BYU McDonald Building on weekdays from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm between August 27-October 18th to participate in the competition. Submissions can be turned in at the front desk of the Sorensen Center. Participants are encouraged to individually wrap their art before bringing it to the Sorensen Center to submit. Any damages, changes, etc. that occur after the submission of pre-wrapped art is not the responsibility of the Sorensen Center unless specifically claimed and communicated by Sorensen Center representatives.

Note: Art should be framed if possible. We will not judge any art that is not physically brought to the BYU Sorensen Center. Digital or Motion art should be brought into the Sorensen Center on a USB Flash Drive or SD card. All participants must sign a loan agreement for their art when it is dropped off. Art can be picked up between Monday, November 18-Friday, December 6. Art must be 100% completed when submitted (including paint drying, editing, etc.).

Selection Process: A panel of judges will curate entries. Selected entries will be included in a public showcase held during the conference. Selected artists will be notified via email or phone by November 1.

Exhibition or Display: Selected entries will be displayed in the Wilkinson Garden Court during the Leading by Faith Conference Art Showcase on Monday, November 11 from 10am-6pm. BYU Faculty, Staff, and Students will vote on their favorite artwork at the showcase. Winning art pieces will be displayed and recognized at the Leading by Faith Conference on Friday, November 15, 2024. More information as to when during the conference the announcement will take place is TBA.

Copyright and Usage Rights: By submitting artwork to the Leading by Faith Art Competition, artists grant Brigham Young University the right to use their artwork solely for promotion and publication related to the competition. In the event their artwork is chosen as the 1st place winner, artists grant the BYU Sorensen Center permission to display the work for up to 1 calendar year. Artists retain the right to donate art to the center if they would like to. Artists retain all other rights to their work, including reproduction and commercial use, outside of this agreement. Brigham Young University agrees not to use the artwork for any other purpose without explicit permission from the artist. Submission implies acceptance of these terms. Brigham Young University reserves the right to not display pieces that do not align with the purpose of the art competition.

Code of Conduct: Artists submitting to the Brigham Young University Art Competition must ensure their work is original and aligned with the competition theme. Professionalism is expected throughout the submission process, including timely communication and adherence to guidelines. Compliance with all laws and regulations, including copyright, is mandatory. Artists must conduct themselves ethically and accept the decisions of the organizers and judges. Use of AI technology is not allowed in any category. If any work is found to be using AI, that work will be disqualified.
